Analog Media

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

For this sculpture project I started by learning different paper folding techniques. I used the back of a blade to perforate the paper then folded geometric curves. The paper relief was pinned to the 6” x 8” folded paper model to the 7” x 9” x ¾” cardboard mount that would later represent the clay slab. Using water based clay and wooden and wire end tools I leveled a 1” thick clay slab and then began to recreate the paper using a subtractive and additive technique. Next, I prepared a silicone mold and casted a copy of the relief in plaster.  Plaster was really interesting to work with and something I would like to do in the future. The materials for this project are: paper, cardboard, clay, pins, silicone, plaster and water.
